New Season Starts April 5!
Got your running shoes ready? We’re kicking off the next training season of The Second Wind with an informational meeting on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church. If you want to train for a 5K, run with a great group of friends or enjoy getting outside in the beautiful weather, The Second Wind training and running meetups are perfect for you!
Here’s a quick look at the details:
- Open to anyone and everyone! The Second Wind is open to runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels. No matter whether you want to train for your first 5K or you’re an elite level runner, The Second Wind is the group for you. Our goal is to help you train for an upcoming race and to “run with a higher purpose!”
- Organizational meeting on Thursday, April 5. Come to this meeting to find out about the training schedule, learn more details about the race we’re training for in June and get the schedule of running meetups. The meeting will be held at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church (3329 Forestville Road, Raleigh, NC 27616) and will begin at 6:30 p.m. The meeting should last no more than an hour.
- Target race: Raleigh’s Finest 5K on June 30, 2012. This race is in honor and memory of two Raleigh firefighters that were killed in two separate car crashes in 2008 and 2009. It should be a great course and a great time to run!
- Running meetups. Just as we did last season, we’ll conduct weekly running meetups so you can come out and train with friends, get insight from Coach Chick and encouragement from the entire Second Wind team!
We also have some exciting new features to this year’s training season that we’ll announce at the meeting on April 5, so be sure to join us that evening! Lastly, if you have a friend, family member, neighbor, co-worker or anyone you know that is interested in running or walking, be sure to invite them out. We want to make this the biggest and most exciting season yet!
